einstein on the beach memorial wall  

Generated as a response to a provocative opera called "Einstein on the Beach," this memorial wall serves as a circulation node/ retreat on the campus of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Positioned in a serene path, the wall reflects the premise of the opera which is to break through the filter that the world has placed on our psyche. We perceive things from a frame of reference that has been instilled into us from the time we we were born. The opera is meant to serve as a catalyst for breaking through that filter.

In the wall, a suspended circulation screen hangs in front of a huge video wall that hides the structures structural and mechanical systems. The video wall's concealment of the sub-structure is representative of the perceptive filter that the opera describes.
